Book a Cork Science Festival workshop to visit your primary school

A minimum of two sessions per day are required (some activities require four sessions) at your school. Please note class sizes, travel distance, availability of school hall and number of sessions will factor in the decision to allocate workshops. Cork Science Festival School Workshops are available at NO COST to successful schools therefore in very high demand.

One workshop allocation per school will be applied...........fair is fair so please don't ask !

Dinos Down Under

RTE Juniors  best loved  nature guy is set to take us on a journey to his own back yard of Australia with a catch it’s the Gondwana Land of over 100 million years ago!!!  Dale is joined by a cast of realistic Down Under Dinosaurs and an exciting AV display for especially developed for all levels of primary school. (3 x 60 min shows required per school visit and large hall required)

Junior Science

From Lismore Heritage Centre, we're encouraging junior, senior and 1st Class with these tailor made Science workshops to set future Einsteins on their path. Junior Science is a one hour workshop with hands-on activities. A number of topics are explored and with plenty of fizz, whizz and pops it will leave your class wanting more. (3 x 60 mins sessions required per school visit)

Electronic Brainbox

From the Cork Electronics Industry Association (CEIA), Electronic BrainBox will show children how to build exciting electronic experiments such as creating lights, motors, burglar alarms, radios and much more. Suitable for 3rd -6th class, the parts are plug and play with no tools or soldering required - all safe and easy!  ( 4 x 45 minute sessions required per school visit)

Tyndall   School Visits

Discuss a career as an Electronic Engineer and other possible careers in STEM. Researchers from  the Tyndall National Institute will deliver a brief introduction to Electronics, followed by a hands on workshop with paper circuit cards and Little Bits circuit blocks.

MathsWorks Mobile

From Lifetime Lab, MathsWorks (3rd to 6th class in school hall) offers a multi sensory approach and a stimulating and fun approach to engaging to maths, motivating pupils to engage maths through sight, sound, touch and movement. Each workshop includes a short presentation followed by a series of hands-on maths based activities covering multiplication, symmetry, problem solving and transformations. (4 x 60 minute sessions)

From CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory, the StarDome brings the universe into your own school hall. Discover the night sky in this portable planetarium with shows suitable for primary children of all ages. The StarDome will visit your school for the full day, accommodating up to 35 children for each 30 min show.

Anyone4Science, brings the hair raising story of Electricity!. Trace the history of the discovery of electricity and them make batteries varying the electrolyte and the electrodes to make the best batteries. Suitable for 3rd to 6th class.

Learn It workshops bring science and maths alive in a fun and engaging way. Using LEGO Education resources to predict, estimate, observe, measure, and record investigations, participants exercise scientific inquiry skills through direct hands-on STEM activities.
