Time & Location

Nov 15, 2022, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

University College Cork Arboretum, College Rd, University College, Cork, Ireland

About the Event

This workshop will particularly focus on how trees can be measured (girth, height, age, etc.). Participants will use simple mathematical formulae to estimate the size and age of some important trees on the UCC campus. This will reinforce the importance of numeracy and mathematics to answer real-world questions as well as offering an opportunity to engage with the audience on the importance of all plants and trees for carbon sequestration and contribution to biodiversity.

UCC Arboretum is internationally accredited by ArbNet. The Tree Explorers project is supported by the SFI Discover programme.
